Kushida Jinja Shrine

The main guardian for the entire Hakata area, enshrined by an oracle in 1166 when Hakata became a trading hub. It is believed that this Kushida Shrine was created for the temple sollicitation from the shrine with the same name, Kushida Shrine, in Ise Matsuzaka. The float racing Hakata Gion Yamakasa is dedicated to our company; it’s a famous summer tradition not only limited to Hakata but throughout Japan.

Hakata Dontaku Festival

The port city festival is held on May 3rd and 4th every year during the major holiday weekend in Japan. Don’t miss out the parade runs across the city with dancers of all genders and ages dressed up as shamoji (rice paddle) and the positive energy from the gorgeously decorated floats called “flower bus”! The Dontaku event day is full of awesome parades and performance.
